A child’s treasure chest
The Children’s OPAC opens up imaginative portals to information and literature. The playful layout has a great number of search options – for example, reading tips divided up in genres, alphabet circles with popular search terms and a children’s thesaurus. And of course it is possible to define your own search criterias.
The EnTree Thesaurus is clickable subject tree for systematic searching at hierarchically-arranged levels. Behind the various levels there are pre-programmed search strings that use Boolean logic (and/or/not search) to combine several subject terms. The searches are also narrowed down through the use of a children’s book filter and by limiting them to the subject field of the bibliographical records.
The underlying subject terms of the various levels are taken from the literature guide “Compass in the Book Forest”. The structure of the subject tree has been worked out in cooperation with among others children’s librarians.
The Children's OPAC presents sophisticated searching to children in a simple and fun way.
