Which cultural instituion is going to be named "The Digital Cultural Institution of the Year 2010"? - 2010-06-30
In connection with IFLA’s conference in Gothenburg 2010 Axiell will award one cultural institution in Sweden, Denmark, Finland or in the UK that has taken the journey towards the digital world in a new and innovative way.
With the award Axiell wants to encourage cultural institutions entering the transition into the digital world. A transition where the cultural institutions reach their communities in a new digital way, by e.g. partnering with local government, business and other organizations to heed local needs and develop new ervices for the benefit of the end-users.
The price was founded in 2007 under the name “The Nordic Digital Library of the year” but from this year the scope has been broaden out not only to concern the Nordic countries and either not only libraries.
In six months more than 16 libraries have gone live with Axiell Arena - 2010-06-10
Since January 2010 the virtual libraries have been a reality in many municipalities.
In 2009 more than 60 libraries chose Axiell Arena as their future tool for building the virtual library on the net. Some went live in 2009, but looking at the first half of 2010 we have seen that more than 16 libraries/ consortiums creating their new virtual platform and going live with the solution. All of them look quite different according to the design wanted for each individual virtual library. Some chose it as the library catalogue others again for the library’s whole website. Different services can be added, and you decide where and how you want to present them to the end-users. You can do all that yourself and change them as often as you want without involving consultants.
