The new entity Axiell France positioned to be the leading partner to museums, archives and libraries in France
Lund, Sweden, May 24, 2016 – Axiell, the number one supplier of collections management solutions globally, today announces the acquisition of Mobydoc, the market leader for French museums, particularly national museums. The acquisition brings together Axiell’s global resources and experience within Archives, Libraries and Museums (ALM) with the solid position that Mobydoc has held in the French market for over 20 years. The move creates an organisation that will be able to continue to serve French museums with market leading solutions and services, now and in the future.
The French cultural and museum market is one of the most prominent in the world, with more than 1,200 “Musées de France” and 60 million visitors, growing every year, bringing high demand for solutions and services that can bring cultural heritage to life.
“Through this acquisition, we can now quickly expand our presence and ability to serve all of our current and future customers in the French speaking parts of the world. Close to customer is a core strategy for Axiell and we will now have resources in France with relevant experience and knowledge of the market to be able to serve all customers, large and small. We look forward to welcoming Mobydoc into the Axiell family,“ says Joel Sommerfeldt, President & CEO, Axiell Group.
Axiell ALM had an exceptional year in 2015, with organic growth of 16%, the addition of more than 70 new customers globally and continued investments in new technology. Axiell has been active in France, partnering with key institutions such as CNC and Cinémathèque Française. With the addition of Mobydoc, which is recognised by the cultural ministry of France as the leading vendor on the market, and Axiell’s experienced management team and staff, the company is positioned for further expansion in France.
“We are thrilled to become part of the Axiell group. During the acquisition process, it became clear that Axiell’s values and approach to customers are aligned with our philosophy. In addition, their experience from previous acquisitions can be leveraged for our internal knowledge and to expand the business in France, to the benefit of our customers who will continue to receive the appropriate solutions and service,“ says Eric de Cacqueray, Managing Director of Mobydoc.
Mobydoc focuses its activity on the development of collections management systems dedicated to museums, companies and private collections, archives, documentation centres, photographic, film and audiovisual collections, and architectural heritage. Axiell services the same customer segments globally, which creates a perfect synergy by bringing Mobydoc into Axiell and sharing resources, knowledge and the continued innovation of solutions that will benefit Mobydoc customers.
