Filmoteca Española heeft gekozen om hun filmarchief te ontsluiten via Axiell’s Film Archief applicatie om zo hun snel groeiende film-collectie beschikbaar te stellen.
Maarssen, Netherlands, 3 June 2021 – Axiell, the world’s leading software and services provider for the cultural sector, announces that Filmoteca Española has chosen Axiell’s collections management platform, Axiell Collections, to manage and share their collection of over 40,000 film works and 250,000 items of Spanish cinematographic heritage. Filmoteca Española will trade its current fragmented technology stack for Axiell’s integrated software suite which will include tools to enhance and streamline collections management, collections moves, and public access.
Since 1953, Filmoteca Española, has curated a home for Spanish film and associated documents including books, magazines, posters, museum objects, photographs and more. As a living archive, Filmoteca Española manages both existing film heritage as well as culture that is currently being produced and born digital. Additionally, in collaboration with the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF), Filmoteca Española works to further their mission to promote film culture and research on both a national and international level.
Laura Carrillo, Head of Documentation and Cataloguing Services of Filmoteca Española, says, “The move to Axiell’s software suite will transform the way we interpret and share our collection. Currently we use a library system to manage our film archive. This means our collections data must be distorted to fit a library data model. With Axiell Collections we will be able to modernize our approach, enrich our collections data, and manage our cinematographic works to film archive standards including EN 15907. Offering public access to our catalogue will provide users and researchers with more complete and reliable information regarding our film heritage.”
Filmoteca Española will also make use of two seamlessly integrated Axiell Collections add-on modules to enhance the flow of data across their organisation. Axiell Move will be used to streamline the archive’s collections movements with mobile device-enabled software that syncs instantly with collections data. Axiell’s public access software will be used to publish and promote their collections online – one of their core missions.
Joel Sommerfeldt, CEO of Axiell Group, comments, “Our moving image collections management solution is used by the world’s leading film archives which make up a strong contingent of our user community. Since we introduced Axiell Collections for film archives as a standard solution, this segment has grown substantially over the past year and we are delighted to welcome Filmoteca Española to the community.”
