Axiell extends presence of digital-first Library Services Platform to UK
Nottingham, UK, 5th February 2018 – Axiell, the leading vendor to cultural institutions in Europe, today announces the launch of a pilot project for its new Library Services Platform, Quria. Northamptonshire Libraries delivered by First for Wellbeing CIC will be the first public library service in the UK to use the new cloud-based, digital-first Platform.
Quria enables the cost-efficient management of all services in the library through modern standards and simplifies daily work routines, while its flexibility – owed to the use of APIs connecting data from 3rd party sources – allows the library to deliver a comprehensive range of services more easily, therefore affording staff the time to focus on the core activities of the library. Importantly, it helps to deliver a more socially interactive library service by acting as a platform for library staff to proactively communicate and engage with the community. Events management, marketing, CRM, and community outreach are all made possible, and simple, by the cloud-based, modular system.
Northamptonshire libraries, already an Axiell customer, will be the first in the UK (and the second site globally after Drammen, Norway launched Quria in September 2017) to implement Axiell’s latest library management solution.
The pilot project will culminate in Quria being rolled out to all of Northamptonshire’s Public libraries and traded partners after a period of implementation and user feedback. Initially launching with core UK library functionality, additional features will be rolled out in phases; a process made simpler (which therefore reduces the total cost of ownership) by Quria’s ability to integrate with 3rd party databases using APIs.
John Kelly, Sales Director for Axiell UK PL, comments, “this is an important and exciting step for both Axiell and First for Wellbeing, as we introduce Quria to the UK for the first time. Northamptonshire libraries are extremely innovative, and in Quria they will have the first, true Library Services Platform in the UK; a simple, future-proof solution that allows them to further innovate the service they offer to communities across the county.”
Carl Dorney, Interim Library Service Manager and Jaisant Patel, Systems Co-ordinator for Northamptonshire Libraries commented, “We have always endeavoured to be at the forefront of technology to bring the best possible library service to the communities in Northamptonshire. By being the first to pilot Quria we continue to push the boundaries of the service, and not only deliver the best possible range and quality of services, but to do so in a more efficient way, both financially and operationally.”
