Axiell contributes to literacy development in Stockholm

LUND, SWEDEN, 21 Jun, 2016 – Axiell, the leading vendor for libraries in Europe, announced today that it will deliver library systems throughout the City of Stockholm’ schools. This initiative will see Axiell’s library system BOOK-IT and its modern, cloud-based solution, WeLib, implemented for all staff and students across all municipal schools in the City of Stockholm.

During the initial four-year contract, Axiell´s solutions will be used by the City’s 260 primary schools, 45 special needs schools, and over 90 high schools. Axiell is uniquely positioned to deliver the appropriate solutions by leveraging on Axiell Sweden’s public library competence Axiell Education’s expertise in the sector.

The City of Stockholm’s vision is for the school library to be part of the innovative and modern school offering in Stockholm, while maximising accessibility for all users. “We have a lot of experience in this sector are very proud to have the opportunity to participate the project that is going to enhance the learning experience for all students in the City of Stockholm,” said Eva Houltzén, Managing Director of Axiell Education.

One of the objectives of the City of Stockholm is to get a common user-school library system solution that gives students and staff a greater opportunity to access the school library services. With the help of the stable library system BOOK-IT and the educational, art and digital school library WeLib, the City of Stockholm can promote students’ reading development and enable teachers and school librarians to easily work with the literature that is appropriate for the curriculum. Digital media in the school library will also become more easily accessible as part of the project.
