Paris Musées deploys Axiell Collections to manage nationally important collection

L’établissement Public Paris Musées (Paris Musées) have enlisted Axiell to support them in their new collection management project

Paris, France, 4 November 2024 – Axiell, the world’s leading provider of software and services to the cultural sector, announces the deployment of its flexible web-based collections management system, Axiell Collections, at L’établissement Public Paris Musées (Paris Musées). Paris Musées, made up of 14 museums and heritage sites across the city of Paris, is responsible for a collection of over one million works, which will now be managed via Axiell Collections. The project has also seen 400,000 objects made available to the public via Paris Musées’ website.

The collection of L’établissement Public Paris Musées bears witness to the rich history of Paris through its heritage, culture, art and the great figures associated with it. Thanks to a close partnership between Axiell and Paris Musées’, 830,000 works are now documented in Axiell Collections, enabling 9 museums within the Public Institution of PARIS MUSEES to store their data centrally and securely.

In addition, thanks to an API developed by Axiell, some 400,000 objects are available to the public on the L’établissement Public Paris Musées’ website, free of charge and with no restrictions on use.

The project to implement Axiell Collections was launched in January 2022, following Paris Musées’ upgrade from Adlib to Axiell Collections. Axiell Collections gives staff a solution that is more powerful, intuitive and accessible, whilst being browser-based means staff can manage the collection anytime, anywhere.

Dylan Graaff, Vice President EMEA/APAC ALM, at Axiell, said:

“Axiell is pleased to announce the continuation of our partnership with Paris Musées. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to making culture and knowledge accessible to everyone, everywhere. Paris, with its unparalleled cultural heritage, serves as an inspiring foundation for this shared vision”.

Axiell Collections will empower the 130 users of the system to perform conservation work, cataloguing, digitisation and care for the nationally important collection more efficiently than ever before.

A huge amount of work has gone into documenting, photographing and digitising this unique collection in recent years, and high-definition digital reproductions of works are continually being made available to the public online.

Axiell is proud to support the collections of the City of Paris museums, which embody the heritage of the world’s most visited city and hold a highly consulted and constantly evolving collection of works.
