Prototyping the Library of the Future
This is an interesting view on the Library of the Future. Annemarie Naylor, talking at TEDx in Birmingham, is a Director at Common Futures, and an Associate Director (Community Assets) with Locality. Annemarie talks about libraries and their place in modern society. Reflecting on a question posed by Michael Edson from the Smithsonian that said, “what if our cultural institutions only contain 5% of our culture, what if 95% is out there in your heads and mine, and we never put it in the library?”, Annemarie discussed a future for libraries based around community knowledge sharing and trying to access the vast untapped cultural resource that has never been, and might never be, documented formally.
