Webinar: Making a Sense-ational System at the British Film Institute

11 Nov 2025, 15:00 PM GMT

In early 2025, British Film Institute was a pilot museum on the Sensational Museum project – AHRC funded £1M research project radically re-thinking the role of senses in museums and changing how museums work for everyone. As part of the pilot we tested a prototype system for the recording of sensory data about the collection and collections spaces, allowing us to rethink how we describe a moving image collection with more senses than sight and sound.

Join Louise McAward-White, Jennifer Macmillan and Nic Regan to hear more about the project, experience sensory cataloguing of moving image for yourself and hear what we’re planning to do next.

This session is relevant to any system users who are thinking about inclusive and equitable cataloguing for anti-ableism and the wider impacts of how and what we record in our databases.
