When does support for Adlib end?
Support for Adlib will come to end on 1st January 2024. Until that date, you can benefit from the favourable upgrade conditions in your maintenance contract. Why are we ending support for Adlib?
The needs of collections managers have changed since Adlib was developed in the 1970s and so have the possibilities that technology present. There is now a need for more intuitive, accessible systems, that enable collaborative working, anytime, anywhere. We saw that Adlib couldn’t stretch to those needs, not without evolving.
Axiell Collections provides you with a flexible, modern CMS, taking the best features from Adlib and evolving them into a solution that helps you and your institution work more efficiently. With Axiell Collections now providing an exciting, future-ready solution for cultural institutions, we decided now is the right time to take the next step.
Ending support is part of any product lifecycle. Whilst this may require you to review your plans, rest assured that our dedicated team will be here to support you at every step. From requesting your upgrade, to helping you prepare your data, through to implementation, training and then supporting you for the lifetime of the product.
What does end of support mean for me?
From 1st January 2024, Adlib will no longer be supported or maintained by Axiell. After this date, there will be no new releases or bug fixes for Adlib, and you will no longer be able to take advantage of the favourable upgrade conditions available in your maintenance contract.
In order to continue being supported by Axiell, you will need to upgrade to Axiell Collections by 1st January 2024.
Continuing unsupported means that, in the event an issue arises with your Adlib data, we might not be able to help.
Why are you announcing this now?
We are announcing the end of support for Adlib now to give you the time to plan your upgrade to Axiell Collections. We appreciate that the timing of a communication like this is never going to be perfect for all customers, but with Axiell Collections as the clear upgrade path for Adlib customers, now is the right time to start planning your upgrade.
What happens if I do nothing?
After 1st January 2024, your Adlib system will be out of maintenance and therefore we may not be able to assist or provide an upgrade under your current maintenance conditions.
Will my software still work after 1st January 2024?
We are only announcing the End of Support. The Adlib desktop app will keep running and you will be able to use Adlib and access the data. However, you will be missing out on all the benefits of working with a modern, web-based solution that is regularly updated, and the security that comes with support. We cannot guarantee that the Adlib desktop app will continue working forever. Issues can occur if, for example, the version of Windows you currently use becomes unsupported and you need to move to a newer version.
Can I do the same things in Axiell Collections as I’m doing in Adlib?
You can do more. As a web application Axiell Collections can be used anywhere, any moment with a regular desktop or laptop. And we’re regularly adding new, exciting features.

Addons, APIs and Designer are available depending on your Axiell Collections installation.

How long does the upgrade take? And when should I request an upgrade?
How long it takes to implement Axiell Collections depends on whether your institution uses a standard or customised Adlib application. A standard Adlib application simply requires an upgrade to a modern version, which is Collections ready. Customised Adlib applications need to be assessed and will require more time.

How do I know which version I should upgrade to?

What does this mean for other Axiell collections management systems?
We are announcing end of support for Adlib because Axiell Collections represents a viable upgrade path. Axiell will not end support for any of the Collections Management Systems in our portfolio, without a viable upgrade path for that product. And, like with Adlib, not without ample time to prepare for your upgrade.
