Axiell, the world’s leading provider of software and services for the cultural sector, has signed a distribution agreement with coMwork, a key player in Italy’s cultural and academic landscape. The agreement enables coMwork to offer Axiell’s CultureConnect platform for digital engagement and storytelling to cultural institutions across the Italian market.
The partnership marks an important step in Axiell’s geographical expansion and supports a shared mission: to make culture more accessible, inclusive, and engaging through digital transformation. With around 60 institutions already working with coMwork, the collaboration creates a strong foundation for local implementation of CultureConnect’s internationally proven technology.
“coMwork brings valuable local knowledge and deep insight into the Italian cultural landscape,” says Maria Wasing, CEO of Axiell Group. “By combining their experience with our cutting-edge technology, we’re making it easier for institutions in Italy to meet their digital engagement goals—now and in the future.”
CultureConnect is a flexible and user-friendly platform that helps institutions build modern digital experiences. It enables immersive storytelling across interactive touchscreens, visitor phones, and online experiences like virtual exhibitions and distance learning. CultureConnect tools are designed to increase access to collections and deepen public engagement. As a cloud-based solution, it supports the delivery of digital content in a cost-effective and scalable way.
“We’re excited to collaborate with Axiell and bring CultureConnect to our customers in Italy,” says Stefania Vecchio, founder of coMwork. “There is a strong need for digital solutions that respect the unique character of each institution while offering innovative, accessible, and sustainable ways to share culture. This partnership allows us to deliver just that.”
Museo Civico Basilio Cascella is the first Italian museum to adopt the CultureConnect platform. Based in Pescara, Italy, the institution houses a collection of 600 paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and graphics and has selected the mobile guide product to empower visitors to explore the museum and its collection stories in English and Italian.
