Top 5 Brainstorming Tools for Remote Teams

We know that brainstorming is an essential part of the creative process, which shouldn’t be skipped just because your team can no longer meet in person. With clients, we’re a big fan of Mood Boards. Here we’ve compiled a list of five additional tools that can help your team brainstorm together online, even when you’re apart.

Mural works just as if you were sitting in a room with your peers and posting ideas up on a board. Share, sort and converge your sticky-notes all in one virtual meeting space.

If you’re looking for a tool that goes beyond brainstorming, you might want to consider Monday. This project management tool allows you to organize, plan and manage your task all while collaborating with your team. Because it offers so much functionality, there is a bit of a learning curve.

Mindmup allows teams to build mind maps together online. If you’re looking for a fun visual way to collaborate on some new ideas with your team, Mindmup allows you to do so using images and text.

Like Mural & Mindmup, Stormboard focuses on using a strong visual user interface to help teams collaborate. Stormboard provides different templates for users to help customize the type of brainstorming they’re looking to do; whether it’s mind mapping, project flow, or building user personas — Stormboard has an array of collaborative possibilities.

Possibly the most obvious, but also the tool most used at CultureConnect. The way we use it is by having a team member draft an outline in Google docs and share that document with peers. Since every member can edit and watch others edit, it’s a great way for real-time collaboration. If you’re a visual learner, try doing the same approach but by using google slides instead of documents or sheets (which allows for more creativity with design).
