Axiell Launches Quria Discovery AI: AI-Powered Catalogue Search for Libraries

Stockholm, Sweden, 28 May 2026 – Axiell, the world’s leading software and services provider for the cultural sector, announces the launch of Quria Discovery AI, an AI-powered catalogue search tool that brings the ease and comfort of AI chat assistance to the library experience. Quria Discovery AI offers a private and personalized entry point into the catalogue through a conversational chat interface that responds to natural language inputs and refines catalogue suggestions in real time. Through this interactivity, the tool helps users explore and make discoveries across the library’s vast catalogue, ensuring wider use of the library’s investments in books and media. Furthermore, as a multilingual tool with both text and speech inputs, Quria Discovery AI is a highly accessible tool that helps libraries support and engage the most members of their community.

Quria Discovery AI was built to engage the diverse borrower communities that libraries serve today. The multilingual tool converses in over twenty languages and offers text and voice-based chat to support visitors with varied abilities and comfort with technology. Users can interact with the tool and refine searches in their own words, at their own pace, for intuitive and personalized catalogue exploration.

Quria Discovery AI is now available to all Quria customers following a pilot with Forumbiblioteken in Nacka, Sweden. Library staff at Forumbiblioteken see Quria Discovery AI as a valuable addition to the library experience that they offer borrowers. “The tool opens up new opportunities for users to explore the library catalogue in a deeper and more meaningful way, while at the same time helping staff connect readers with resources they might never have encountered otherwise,” said Helena Gomèr, Librarian Manager at Forumbiblioteken. “Through conversational chat, the AI helps users articulate their interests beyond standard search terms and inspires exploration beyond familiar genres or topics to encourage discovery of new areas of interest.”

“Our mission is to help libraries stay current and impactful by delivering software that enhances the complete library experience,” said Maria Wasing, President and CEO of Axiell. “By bringing emerging technology like AI to our Quria customers, we are giving libraries new ways to broaden their reach, deepen engagement, and strengthen their role in the communities they serve, while keeping privacy and trust at the core.”

All data processed by Quria Discovery AI stays within the EU, meeting data residency and compliance requirements. The underlying large language model is contractually bound, meaning it cannot learn from or train its software on interactions with Quria Discovery AI. The tool offers login-free access to users, ensuring all chat conversations are anonymous and remain disconnected from the borrower’s library profile. The result: an immersive AI-driven search tool that is private, secure, and accessible for all types of users.

Quria Discovery AI is now available to all Quria customers. If you would like to learn more about the tool, please visit axiell.com.
