Axiell Quria will enable Drammen to realize their vision for the library of the future and drive their digital transformation
Lund, Sweden, April 4th 2017 – Axiell, the leading vendor to libraries in Europe, today announces that Drammen Public Library in Norway has selected Axiell Quria, a cloud-based, digital-first Library Services Platform. Through the cooperation with Axiell to pilot and implement Axiell Quria, Drammen will start their digital transformation and become one of the most modern libraries in Europe. The library services platform will make daily work routines more efficient and provide proactive suggestions for the staff to enable them to make decision based on data. In addition, the cloud based platform will dramatically reduce the life time cost while still being able to reduce the time it takes for launching additional functionality for continuous improvement of the library services.
Drammen and Axiell are currently cooperating on the project, where Drammen as the first public library globally will use Axiell Quria. Drammen county is a leader in digitalization in Norway and Axiell Quria was selected since it will enable them to deliver on their vision of creating the library of the future – a library which leverages cost-efficient technology, is always open and accessible, encourages reading and improves the engagement with the citizens. The focus Axiell has on IT-solutions which cover the complete library experience and solutions for the cultural sector which enable reading, learning and digital engagement, was also a strong factor in Drammen’s choice.
“We are proud to be partnering with Drammen and jointly deliver a solution which will enable them to meet the demands of patrons today and tomorrow. As the community evolves, and as the demands from patrons shift, so must the library and its offerings.” says Joel Sommerfeldt, President & CEO of Axiell Group. “Quria is ideal for modern counties with digitalization strategies, since the platform is cloud-based, digital-first and manages the transformation of the library, at the pace that they want to evolve.”
The platform enables the cost-efficient management of all services in the library – from books to information, learning and entertainment. All assets and workflows are accessible via the web based interface and manageable from one place: the physical collection, community events, handling of e-media and engaging and managing the complete communication process with patrons. The solution also supports new standards, such as Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) and Resource Description and Access (RDA).
The user experience and workflow efficiency in Quria sets new standards for how a library services platform should support library staff. For example, the solution will allow the librarian to start workflows for reservations, loans and returns from the item they are working with and make updates to the catalogue directly, ensuring they can work as they have always aspired to. The number of clicks to complete a service are minimal and the key processes for a librarian are well defined and streamlined. The solution allows the librarian to engage with their community in new ways and spend their valuable time on important and high value activities.
“Drammen Municipality should be ambitious both on its own and on citizens’ behalf. It is therefore natural that we invest in a modern, cloud-based platform. Along with Axiell, we will create the most modern and citizen-friendly library in Norway”, says Frank Baklid, Digitalization Manager in Drammen Municipality.
